The thesis entitled "Jakość woonerfu jako przestrzeni publicznej w świetle aktywności użytkowników. Studium przypadku ulicy Traugutta w Łodzi" [The quality of the woonerf as a public space in the light of user activity. A case study of Traugutta Street in Łódź] was written by Wiktoria Bąkała under the supervision of Dr Jakub Zasina at the Department of Regional Economics and the Environment.

The aim of the thesis was to assess the quality of one of the streets in the city centre of Lodz that has been transformed into the so-called "woonerf" – Traugutta Street – and to provide recommendations for shaping woonerfs as high-quality public spaces. The research methods she used to conduct her study included an urban inventory, controlled observation and a questionnaire interview. The results she obtained indicated that Traugutta Street is a high-quality space, primarily because it hosts not only so-called necessary activities but also a large number of the so-called optional activities and social behaviours.

Based on her work, Wiktoria Bąkała also authored a scientific article, which was published in issue 28 of KWARTAŁ Magazine. It can be downloaded free of charge from the magazine's website.
