Held under the scientific patronage of the Polish Academy of Sciences and organised in partnership with the Climate Coalition, the initiative is being convened at the invitation of the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Its objective is to identify courses of action that will strengthen the country's resilience to the effects of climate change while ensuring the security of citizens, the economy and the natural environment.

The debate will provide a platform for substantive dialogue between representatives of academia, public administration, non-governmental organisations and business. The discussion will support the development of public policies based on current scientific evidence, with particular emphasis on adaptation measures and a just economic transition.

Thematic Areas of the Debate

The debate will be based on strategic recommendations prepared by researchers in the areas outlined below.

During three thematic panels, expert teams will present concise analyses of the key challenges in the following areas:

  • Environmental Security (biodiversity, water security, forests, nature as critical infrastructure, spatial planning)
  • Resilience of Citizens and the Economy (health, food security, insurance and financial security, supply chains and economic security)
  • National Security (disinformation and cognitive warfare, crisis management, incorporating climate and nature considerations into defence strategy)
