The aim of the training was to expand the knowledge and practical skills of firefighters who respond on a daily basis to a wide range of hazardous situations, including CBRNe threats.

The training focused on the practical handling of materials of unknown origin, from sample collection and rapid testing through to result interpretation, situation assessment and decision-making regarding further actions. Discussion of real-life scenarios, as well as the capabilities and limitations of field diagnostics, also provided an opportunity to compare the biological perspective with the practical aspects of rescue operations.

The training provided an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the academic community and emergency response professionals.
