The event brought together 160 experts from across Europe working in the field of Research Data Management (RDM), including data stewards, data managers, data curators, RDM trainers and researchers. The Fellowship of the Data conference provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience, establishing collaborations, and building a European network of specialists supporting researchers in the responsible and effective management of research data at universities and research institutions.
The meeting programme included lectures, panel discussions, a poster session and parallel hands-on workshops. Topics covered included the development of RDM services, communication and negotiation skills, data management maturity models and practical challenges related to the work of data stewards. An important element of the meeting was the exchange of experiences among representatives of European institutions, as well as the establishment of new contacts and opportunities for cooperation.
Dr Maciej Bisaga presented the poster “The Polish Genomics Era”, devoted to data management in large-scale genomics projects in Poland. One of the examples highlighted was the work carried out within the G4PL – Genomika dla Polski [Genomics for Poland] project, in which the University of Lodz participates through the Centre for Digital Biology and Biomedical Sciences – Biobank Lodz®.
Participation in Fellowship of the Data 2026 provided an opportunity not only to showcase the University of Lodz's experience in genomic data management but also to exchange best practices, learn about solutions implemented at other European institutions and further develop an international cooperation network in the field of Research Data Management.
