The specificity of the conference is the relatively small number of 45-minute papers, which not only discuss the research conducted by the speakers but also introduce the biology of relatively little-known fungal taxa that form complex relationships with arthropods.
In this edition, all participants can present posters or short presentations (3-5 slides) on their own research. Furthermore, conferences in this series offer a practical approach to understanding taxonomic groups of fungi – the event participants will learn the secrets of laboratory work with these organisms under the guidance of specialists. The invited speakers include world-class mycologists: Dr Jennifer Luangsa-ard (specialising in the Hypocreales order of fungi), Dr Danny Haelewaters (the Laboulbeniales order of fungi), Dr Ibtissem Ben Fekih (the Entomophthorales order of fungi, including as a tool in biological plant protection), Prof. Annette Bruun Jensen (fungi affecting pollinators), Dr João PM Araújo (fungi associated with social insects), and dr hab. Marta Wrzosek, Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw (relationships between fungi and insects), and Prof. dr hab. Cezary Tkaczuk (physiology of entomopathogenic fungi and biological plant protection).
The goal of the conference is also to integrate the community of mycologists studying entomopathogenic fungi and practitioners using their research in biological plant protection, a field that is extremely important due to the growing need to use safe biological agents instead of artificial pesticides.

The project is financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education through a grant from the Vectors of Science programme awarded to the Polish Mycological Society. The event is co-organised by the University of Lodz.
