Professorships

The present sub-page is a description ofthe New Mode of the procedure leading to the conferment of the academic title of profesor (professor), later called “professorial procedure”. The mode has been in force since 2011 and has been the only valid mode since autumn 2013.

Pursuant to Article 19, section 1, of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 22 September 2011 on the detailed mode and conditions of procedures leading to the conferment of the academic degree of doktor (doctor), doktor habilitowany (habilitated doctor), and academic title of profesor (professor) (Polish title of the Regulation: Rozporządzenie Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego z dnia 22 września 2011 r. w sprawie szczegółowego trybu i warunków przeprowadzania czynności w przewodach doktorskich, w postępowaniu habilitacyjnym oraz w postępowaniu o nadanie tytułu profesora) (published in: Dziennik Ustaw 2011, No. 204, item 1200), a person applying for the conferment of the title of profesor, later called “candidate” or “applicant”, shall submit to the director of the organisational unit (which is usually a faculty) an application for the conferment of the title of profesor.

To the application for the conferment of the title of professor the following attachments shall be enclosed:

1. Originals (or copies certified by the organisational unit that will conduct the professorial procedure) of documents confirming that the applicant is a holder of the academic degrees of doctor and of doctor habilitowany;

2. Vita Summary (Summary of Professional Accomplishments) describing the applicant’s total scientific accomplishments, information on scientific supervision and education of young staff, including completed doctorate procedures, in which the applicant fulfilled the function of the principal supervisor or subsidiary supervisor, and about activity popularizing science, in the Polish and English languages;

3. Questionnaire of scientific accomplishments after the conferment of the doktor habilitowany degree, while in the case specified in Article 21a, or Article 26, sections 3 and 4 of the Act of 14 March 2003 on academic degrees and academic title and degrees and title in the arts (Polish title of the Act: Ustawa z dnia 14 marca 2003 r. o stopniach naukowych i tytule naukowym oraz o stopniach i tytule w zakresie sztuki) (published in: Dziennik Ustaw 2003, No. 65, item 595, as amended by subsequent legislation) – after the conferment of the doktor degree, with an indication of which of these accomplishments are considered by the applicant to be the most important; the indication shall be edited according to Attachment No. 2 of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 22 September 2011 on the detailed mode and conditions of procedures leading to the conferment of the academic degree of doktor (doctor), doktor habilitowany (habilitated doctor), and academic title of profesor (professor) (Polish title of the Regulation: Rozporządzenie Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego z dnia 22 września 2011 r. w sprawie szczegółowego trybu i warunków przeprowadzania czynności w przewodach doktorskich, w postępowaniu habilitacyjnym oraz w postępowaniu o nadanie tytułu profesora) (published in: Dziennik Ustaw 2011, No. 204, item 1200);

4. Application for the conferment of the title of profesor, with attachments, shall be submitted in electronic and paper forms.
